Kreolex zentr is a mind experiment in the field of virtual and paranormal cultural institutions (so called parainstitutions) which do not belong to the specific territory and do not exist ‘in a real life’. From the one side, this tactic is a response to the conservative turn, nationalization and frightened self-exotisation of cultural institutions in post soviet Central Asia. From the other side, this is the reaction on obligatory cultural identity in the ‘multicultural’ global art world.
Kreolex zentr was initiated in 2012 and since then has been wandering around borders of Translocality and producing performances, sound waves, objects, publications, fluctuations, installations, love noise, small talks, salads and events. The full time workers of Kreolex zentr are artists Ruth Jenrbekova and Maria Vilkoviskaya. As Kreolex zentr workers explaining, ‘while working under the cover of ‘contemporary art’, organization is busy with xenographic research of new forms of life in zones of translocality. In such zones social field of art can experience strong disturbance and weak intensity. Kreolex zentr is working mainly for queer creatures excluded from official classifications. Such creatures are semi visibly existing in the field with strong institutional insufficiency.’ During Escapism. Training Program, Kreolex zentr will present materials from its official archive.
